As part of the cleaning out process I had to decide whether or not to keep this book. I picked it up at one of the local library book sales for about 25 cents. I wasn't sure if I would like it, but I was pleasantly surprised. I am really interested in art so I thought this might be interesting, and it was.
This historical novel follows the story of how the Mona Lisa was stolen from the Louvre in Paris, France. It is told as a story, but Reit does a great job of interjecting the historical facts in such a way that the reader is not bored or distracted. I was interested to learn so much about the history of such a famous painting and the people who were involved in the caper.
I wouldn't recommend this to everyone because I know some people just wouldn't enjoy reading the history. But if you like art and especially the Mona Lisa, you should pick up this book. It will entertain you and teach you at the same time.

ooh i love this book.
I'm not quite finished
[i still have about a chapter to go],
but you are completely right.
The facts are so interestingly
placed that it feels like you
are reading a fictional story.
Amazing. :]
I'm so glad there is someone else out there who has even heard of this book - I really enjoyed it. Thanks for your comment and I hope you enjoy the end!
